In 2015 I spent two weeks living with and photographing the gemstone miners high in Pakistan's Karakorum Range.
The drive to get to and from the point from which we began our trek high into the range was precipitous to say the least. Narrow and winding. Drop-offs of 1500 feet or more in places.
At the termination of the drop-off point I then took an overnight hike walking alongside a donkey train, which carried my gear, to get to my workplace.
